During
this course, I am going to explore the research topic of poverty and early
childhood education. I plan to focus my research on three different areas.
- How does poverty affect the development of a young
child?
- What kind of early childhood education programs are
available to low-income children?
- What are the last effects of poverty on a young
children
There
are many reasons why I choose to learn more about the topic of poverty and
early childhood education. As an educator, I believe that this group of
children is often forgotten about, and as an educator, we need to look at
providing high quality education for these children. On a personal level, I
experienced a community living in poverty, and the long-term effects poverty
had on the community. Poverty had created a vicious cycle that was hard to get
out of, and the people in the community accepted the situation as their way of
life. Seeing this cycle of poverty made me feel for the children living in the
community. The children did not have access to quality education and attended a
school system that was failing. In addition, the lack of education caused long-term
effects on the community such as high crime and high unemployment.
I am a little intimidated by the research process.
However, I am beginning to feel more comfortable with the concept as we break
it down in sections in each week. I have a better understanding on quality
research and how to locate credible sources. This week I am learning about the
research process and the break down of the areas in the research process. I am
looking forward to seeing how the process plays out each week and how my
comfort level with research is stronger by the end of the course.

ReplyDeleteHello Tanya, I like the post. The topic you have chosen is very much a concern to me as well. I choose a different topic, but is vital as well you can visit my blog and leave comment on how you feel about the topic I have chosen.poverty and early childhood education we need to really play close attention to this topic because so many children in our classroom and families are experience it.As educator we have to make sure we stay current to what is going on in the field of early childhood. We have to be ready to give parents resources that might be in their community so they want feel left. behind. I agree with you as you mentioned above, According to Meridith (2014)The children did not have right of entry to value education and attended a school system that was weakening. In addition, the absence of education make happen long-term special effects on the community such as high misconduct and high joblessness. This so true that why as educator we have to make sure what type of resource we can offer to the parents and make sure they are aware of resource within our programs and neighborhoods.Did you find this topic to have some type of emotional impact on you as you where preparing to research this topic? I will wait for your reply.I look forward reading your post. Have a great week.

Hello Tanya,
ReplyDeleteI think that the fact that you chose a research topic that is close to you and interests you, that will make this whole process so much easier. I, personally am having a hard time narrowing down my research topic, but after reading yours I have a better idea on how to narrow mine down.
